Mole In Chemistry || What Is Mole

Mole in chemistry. What is mole. In this article we will learn what is mole and mole in chemistry. The mole is defined as “when the atomic mass, molecular mass, ionic mass or formula mass is expressed in grams is called Mole”. For example as shown in table no 1.

substance

Mass of substance

Mass of substance in grams

Hydrogen

   1 a-m-u

1 gram

      1 mole

Oxygen

   8 a-m-u

Water

 18 a-m-u

18 grams

      1 mole

Sodium chloride

 58 a-m-u

58 grams

      1 mole

                Table no 1

One mole of a substance is defined as “the amount of substance which consist of number of particles equal to the number of particles in carbon-12 atom (6.02×1024). For example one mole of water consists 6.02×1024 number of particles therefore it is called one mole. The mass of one mole of a substance is equal to the atomic mass, molecular mass, ionic mass or formula mass of that substance in grams, as shown in bellow table.
